One week from today - will you show up?

Your special invitation.

Hey community,

Today is Juneteenth - a day that reminds us freedom isn't given, it's claimed. Creative freedom included.

One week from today, June 26th at 7PM in NYC, we're claiming space for 7 filmmakers who refused to accept a sci-fi future that doesn't include us.

Here's what we're building together:

THE FILMS

Seven BIPOC and disabled creators spent months (and years) crafting sci-fi that centers us in tomorrow's stories. Not as sidekicks or trauma narratives, but as the architects of the future. NYC will see them first on Thursday, June 26th at the iconic Angelika Film Center

THE SPACE

On Wednesday, June 25th we're partnering with The Double Down - a space that's brought together creative visionaries for the past year. How could we not? They understand what we're building: community that sustains the work. We’ll kick off the summer with the minister of vibes and vinyls!

THE TIME CAPSULE

Our creative director will be on scene during Wednesday's kickback, interviewing directors and voices about where they see themselves in 5 years and their hopes for the future.

Plus - we'll have a phone to dial the future. Leave a message after the tone. Drop audio messages for yourself, the filmmakers we're supporting, or the next generation of creators who'll open this capsule in 2030.

Your voice matters, MiFILM wants to hear it.

THE QUESTION

What would you want your audience to do for your work?

If you spent months creating something that mattered - something that challenged how people see the future - wouldn't you want a room full of people who believed in your vision?

That's what we're asking for these 7 filmmakers.

THE MOMENT

In 5 years, when we open that time capsule, we'll remember this moment. What we built. Who showed up. How we chose to support each other when it mattered.

On Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom claimed. Next Wednesday, we claim space for the futures these filmmakers envision.

Be the audience you'd want for your own work.
