How are you? Seriously.

How ya'll doing?

January 2025 Issue

How are you? No really.

Every month, we drop resources, updates, events, and industry takes in this newsletter, but let’s be real for a second: we’re f*cking tired. Like deeply tired. The kind of tired that creeps in when you're pushing against a system that wasn’t built for you. The kind of tired you feel after showing up for everyone else—your crew, your stories, your community—and forgetting to check in with yourself.

The first few weeks of this year have been heavy. Between prioritizing solidarity, checking in with friends in Los Angeles, and pushing back against the endless noise of an industry that seems louder than ever, it’s been... a lot.

So, here’s the thing: if you’re finding it hard to focus on that perfectly crafted LinkedIn post, to resist doom-scrolling Twitter, or even to just sit in the quiet and make sense of everything—you’re not alone.

Here’s the deal: If you’re feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or like you just need to scream into the void, hit reply. No fluff. No judgment. Forget about the polish and performance. Just tell us how you’re feeling.

You don’t have to filter your words or make it sound inspiring. It doesn’t need to be pretty. This isn’t about making a statement—it’s about taking up space, in a world that so often tells us to shrink ourselves.

You have our word:

  • We won’t share your words unless you explicitly tell us we can.

  • We won’t respond unless you ask us to.

  • We’re simply here to hold space for you.

For decades, collectivizing has been one of the most radical tools for resistance in America. From physical newspapers that amplified our voices when mainstream media drowned them out, to pop-up screenings that showcased stories that mattered to us. And now, a radical use of email: a simple space for connection, for truth, for letting it all out.

Maybe this isn’t the solution. Maybe it’s just a pause. But sometimes, that’s exactly what we need to keep going.

So, how are you? No really.

We’re listening.

P.S. If you’ve been looking for a sign to rest, vent, or find your way back to yourself—this is it. Let’s take this moment together.
