š¬ Exciting News: The Make News Screening Series is Here!
Weāve got some incredible news to share with you this month, and we couldnāt be more excited! Weāre officially launching the Make News Screening Series, and we want you to be a part of it. šæāØ
Why We Started This Event
You already know what weāre about: amplifying the voices of underrepresented filmmakers. We know how hard it can be to get your stories seen and heard, especially when youāre a BIPOC filmmaker navigating an industry that doesnāt always make space for diverse voices. Thatās why weāre launching this event ā to create a platform where real indie films can shine. We aim to connect groundbreaking films with audiences who are hungry for something fresh, authentic, and powerful.
We Have High Hopes
Weāre not just hosting another film event. Weāre building a community of filmmakers, storytellers, and film lovers who believe in the power of diverse narratives. We want to create a new pipeline to distribution, giving filmmakers unprecedented opportunities to work with top creatives and reach their audiencesā¦all while reviving the dying cinematic experience.
āCus letās be real: theatres arenāt hitting the way they used to. š„“
Weāre kicking things off this fall in NYC and LA with a bang! Our theme this year is "Freedom" ā a celebration of stories that break boundaries and push the envelope. Think bold, think brave, think revolutionary.
Hereās the lowdown:
Dates: September 5-8, with pre-screening events on each coast.
Location: NYC & LA (specific venues to be announced soon!)
Theme: Freedom ā your film should capture this theme in some way.
Submission Criteria: Short films under 20 minutes, with English subtitles and closed captions.
Submit Your Film
Weāre calling all filmmakers to submit their shorts for a chance to be featured. If your film is under 20 minutes and aligns with our theme, we want to see it! Weāre offering a special 10% discount on submission fees for our members with the code MIFMAKENEWS10š
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Letās make this event unforgettable and show the world that Real Indies Deserve The Big Screen.
Much Love, The MiFILM Team
Happy Pride Month Yaāll!!!
