The Writers Room withShannan E. Johnson

Join MiFILM, and The Professional Pen’s Shannan E. Johnson for a workshop on giving and receiving script feedback and being in a writer’s room. In this workshop, Shannan E. Johnson will go over rules and tips on hosting a writers room, with a case study on ways to conduct readings and reviews. One writer will share the first 15 pages of their script during the workshop. This writer will also review tips from Shannon on how to receive and include feedback.

After receiving her MFA in Film (Screenwriting, TV Writing, Playwriting, Creative Writing...whew, that’s a lot.) from Florida State University, Shannan E. Johnson became a junior creativeexecutive in development and current programming at NBCUniversal at the Syfy Channel. It was there that she honed her skill to guide writers and producers from pitch to production on Alphas, Being Human, Haven, Sanctuary, and Warehouse 13. 

In 2010, Shannan left Syfy to join a dance company. Big step, right? She has spent eight years as a full-time performing and teaching artist traveling to 48 states and more than 19 countries.
