NFT Auction - Announcement

Artists Are Essential

A Film Fund Powered by NFTs

This summer, MIFILM is hosting an NFT Auction to showcase & celebrate the BIPOC artist community, where 50% proceeds will benefit collaborators and a film financing fund for MiFILM.

Created to celebrate and uplift artists of color and build a network of self-sufficiency, the purpose of this auction is to start a film fund that will empower the next generation of innovative storytellers. We asked 6 filmmakers and graphic designers to create a piece of work inspired by the prompt "artists are essential; in the midst of chaos the world turns to art." Each week we will be issuing a special digest, one-of-a-kind NFT made available by our collaborators, to learn more about the piece before you bid. This week, we're spotlighting Jumai Yusuf and her donated piece currently on auction titled Celestial Ascension, only on OpenSea.

Jumai Yusuf is a Director, Writer, and Producer who recently graduated from the MFA Film & TV Production program at the USC School Of Cinematic Arts. She is also a 3D animator, character designer, crypto artist, and firm believer in the metaverse! In her works, she highlights people of color and the stories of underrepresented minorities. She draws inspiration from the stories of her cultural background as a Nigerian, Muslim, immigrant. Her short films have screened at dozens of festivals worldwide: including the film she produced, SIMULACRA, which won a 2020 Student Academy Award in the Alternative/Experimental category. Most recently, she directed the animated music video “Caught In The Middle” for India and the Jones, entirely in Unreal Engine. Her full portfolio is available at www.jumaiyusuf.com
