MiFILM is hosting The Money Shot: Lights, Camera, & Capital, a paid office hours session with Asha Chai-Chang, on June 17, 2026 at 4 PM EST.

Asha is an Emmy-winning and Oscar-qualified filmmaker, and she’s bringing a trimmed version of a presentation she previously gave at Sundance to our community for a real conversation about film funding and strategy.

Asha will be digging into: what funding sources are out there, how filmmakers can evaluate different opportunities, how to think strategically about what makes sense for a specific project, and how to build a fundable strategy from the ground up.

You’ll also be able to bring your questions, which is part of what makes this one special. Sometimes you don’t just need information—you need someone who can help you think through the play.

• The Sadness is a Taiwanese horror film directed by Canadian filmmaker Rob Jabbaz. Set in a Taiwan gripped by a rapidly mutating virus, the film blends horror, social commentary, and relentless tension into a visceral viewing experience. Beneath its shocking exterior lies a chilling look at fear, human behavior, and what happens when society begins to unravel.

• Directed by Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli, The Drama is an American dark romantic comedy that turns a wedding-week romance into something far more unsettling. As a happily engaged couple confronts an unexpected revelation, the film explores love, honesty, and the messy realities hidden beneath carefully crafted lives.

• Scary Movie 6 is a June release American comedy film directed by Michael Tiddes and produced by Marlon and Shawn Wayans, continuing the long-running parody franchise known for satirizing popular horror films and pop culture moments. Reuniting the series’ signature chaotic humor and meta references, the film brings back its over-the-top style of spoofing genre tropes with fast-paced jokes and absurd scenarios.

• Obsession is a psychological horror film directed by Curry Barker that has been steadily gaining attention for its chilling, slow-burn approach to intimacy and control. The film follows a relationship that slowly unravels as fixation and desire begin to blur into something far more unsettling. Tense and unsettling in its restraint, it lingers on the emotional rather than the overtly shocking.

• Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, Wistoria: Wand and Sword is a Japanese fantasy anime that follows an underdog pushing against a rigid magical system with nothing but determination and a sword. Blending fast-paced action with emotional stakes and classic shonen energy, the series has quickly built momentum among fans. With Season 1 now complete, it’s the perfect time to catch up and stay locked in for Season 2’s weekly release.
